Chambers Picks AState

After his first visit to Arkansas State, athlete Tajhea Chambers of Tift County (Ga.) High School found home.

"I knew there was a lot of construction going on, but I did not know the campus was this beautiful," he said. "I did not expect it to be that nice. I felt like I was at home. Everyone was so friendly. "I know I don't need a really big school. I want to go some place where I can shine and I feel like this is that place."

Chambers, who said he was 6-foot-1, 234 pounds, committed to Arkansas State on Thursday, giving the Red Wolves nine commitments for the 2015 recruiting class.

"Yeah I watched a couple of their games, and even then when I did not have an offer, I felt like that would be a team I could play for."

He will now get that opportunity. Coach Joe Cauthen delivered an offer to Chambers in April.

He said he thinks of himself as an "offensive player" but in this three seasons on the field for Flint County, he has played quarterback, running back, safety and linebacker. He started as a freshman at receiver and moved to quarterback his sophomore season.

"I have played all over the field," he said. "I like offense bit it just doesn't matter. I just like playing."

He said the Red Wolves have told him they are recruiting me as an athlete.

"They think I can play several spots and it just depends upon who signs where I play." Chambers has offers from Troy and Tennessee-Chatanooga.

Tift County is a Class 6A school located in south central Georgia. They open their season. He has started for three seasons and has been an All-Region player each season.
