Harrison Commits to Red Wolves
"I just liked everything," he said. "I love the way the program is going. I loved the coaches. I really felt like they were real. It was a good fit. It felt like a big family over there."
And family was one reason why the Memphis athlete picked the Red Wolves.
"It is very big to me that my family will get to see me play," he said. "
A 5-foot-11, 175 pounds, the speedy Harrison ran for 1,937 yards as a junior and scored 20 touchdowns. He was voted team most valuable player and the team's offensive player of the year.
As a sophomore he started at fullback and ran for 800 yards and scored 8 touchdowns.
"I really loved the offense they are running," he said. "I was really impressed with the holes the linemen made in the spring game. I can't wait to run through those holes."
Harrison said he has also received interest from Appalachian State, Southern Miss and Memphis.
The Red Wolves are also interested in Ridgeway teammate Elontae Bateman, a defensive lineman/
"I'm a north-south runner, but I have both power and speed and I believe I make smart decisions," he said. "I can play in the slot or at running back."
Harrison said the Red Wolves plan on using him mainly at running back, "but they told me I better be ready to catch the ball."
He said he plans to attend a camp in Jonesboro in June.
