It did not take long for Lee (Texas) College forward Adam Ward to pull the trigger on his commitment…
The 6-foot-5, 170-pound Dure visited A-State last weekend. He joins 6-9 Ronnie White of Paris (Texas) Junior College and 6-4 guard Connor Kern of Pickerington, Ohio on the Red Wolves' commitment list.
"Oh I think it was a great visit,'' said coach Steve Smiley. "He really liked it. He felt good about the school, the coaches, the players. It was a positive."
ASU is expected to add at least five players this this year, possible all during the early signing period which opens on Nov. 13.
Last season for the Sheridan Generals, Dure played in 27 games and started 13. He averaged 10.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. He shot 45 percent from the floor and 32 percent on 3-pointers. He had a season-best 32 points and 8 rebounds against Casper.
"He will have a lot bigger role this year,'' said Smiley. "Last year he played as many minutes as any freshmen we had but he was behind a guy who went to Missouri State and another who went to Texas State.
"He is a really smart player. He has good size at 6-5. He is a decent athlete, not a great one but pretty good. He can really shoot it. He is very skilled . He plays smart. He has a good IQ.
In high school, he played for Indiens d'Ahuntsic and led the team to 15-4 record and its first state championship. He was selected to the Quebec All-Star team and was MVP in the championship game.
"We have three Canadians on our team. We got up there a lot."
Dure was also recruited by North Dakota, Idaho State, Valparaiso, Niagara and Canisius.
