Pine Bluff Dollarway safety Joshua Liddell made an unofficial visit to the Arkansas State campus on…
"I made up my mind about 6," said Liddell, the youngest of 10 children. "Then I took a little time to think about it and make sure that was my decision. I called coach Harsin about 6:30 and told him.
"He was pretty excited. They had told me all along I was really high on their list. They made me feel wanted."
ASU now has 10 commitments for the 2014 class, four of them from Arkansas. The other Arkansas recruits are Chuks Ota from Jonesboro, Jhamahl bell from Warren, and Jarrod Chandler from Barton.
Liddell (6-foot-1, 190 pounds) started at running back and safety for the Cardinals, who are annually one of the football programs in the state. He also was the starting point guard for the basketball team that was state runner-up and finished 21st in the decathlon. He was the Class 4A runner-up in the 400 meters and triple jump. Surprisingly he earned All-State honors in basketball and was All-Conference in football.
"I feel good about it," he said. "I am excited. "The school has won back-to-back conference titles and I really liked the coaches,'' he said. "I felt there were very honest with me. You could tell they wanted me."
He picked the Red Wolves over Memphis, Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Louisiana-Monroe.
Liddell picked up his offer after attending the Red Wolves' football camp they held at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock in June. He visited the campus not long after that.
"I liked it there," he said. I liked the coaches. It's an in-state school so my family can get to watch me play."
Liddell gained 1,300 yards and scored 10 touchdowns last season as the Cards' tailback. He scored 10 touchdowns. He had four interceptions as a junior and 12 as a sophomore.
"I like running the ball, but I like defense too,'' he said. "ASU wants me to play safety." Liddell said he plans on majoring in physical therapy or athletic training.
