Aplin Looking for New Opportunities
The Tampa, Florida native also garnered much attention from scouts with the Canadian Football League, but the timing was not right for Aplin to sign with a CFL team.
As former ASU quarterback and CFL player Corey Leonard recently explained to AstAteNation Radio, "Ryan is experiencing the harsh, business side of professional football right now."
Leonard explained that because Aplin spent most of his time and efforts trying to catch on with an NFL team, that by the time he learned he would not be signed by that league, most CFL teams had their rosters set.
Despite the setback, Aplin appears nonplussed by the developments. He says that while he understands that it'll be tough, he'll continue to work toward a potential future in pro football when the time is right again. In the meantime, he hopes to land a job at coaching his favorite sport on some level.
Aplin was back in Jonesboro for a few days this week and participated in the ASU-sponsored Scarlet Scramble golf tournament in Paragould along with former teammates Nathan Herold and Graham Bates.
Randy Myers is the co-host of AstAteNation Radio. The program airs Monday-Friday from 11-1 on The Ticket 970am/95.3fm and on the web at 953theticket.com.
