In just seven days the Bryan Harsin coaching era will officially begin as Spring Football begins March 11 at Arkansas State University.
There are a lot of unanswered questions surrounding this upcoming football team, no more important than what will Harsin's offense look like when it takes the field and who the first year Head Coach will find to replace two year Sun Belt Player of the Year Ryan Aplin.
Harsin is the Red Wolves fourth head football coach in the last four years, the thing he won't have in his arsenal of weapons that Hugh Freeze and Gus Malzahn both had is an experience starting signal caller.
AStateNation will be reviewing in the next seven days headed into Arkansas State's Spring Football practice top story lines facing Harsin and his staff during their 15 days of spring training.
In this feature we will overview of the top 5 major questions facing this Red Wolves offensive unit. This week we break down each of the questions, giving our thoughts on the situation.
WHAT WILL BE THE IDENTITY OF THE BRYAN HARSIN OFFENSE
What type of offense will the Red Wolves run? Will this offense be a high tempo offense? Will it be a no huddle type of attack?
Will it be a Harsin offense of his Boise State and Texas past, or will he take things from several offenses including from his Co-offensive coordinators Bush Hamdan and Eliah Drinkwitz?
Who will call the plays?
WHO Will Bryan HARSIN TURNOVER THE QB POSITION TO
Harsin is known for using two different types in his previous offenses, will he continue to do that Arkansas State. With several different type of quarterbacks with different skill sets, will this be the direction he takes this fall.
WHAT WILL THE STRENGTHS OF THIS OFFENSIVE SYSTEM
Will it be a talented David Oku returning at running back?
Will it be a capable offensive line that brings back everyone except for one full time starter?
Will it be the depth at offensive line, will that be the strength of the offense this season?
Will it be the return of two very talented wide receivers, who didn't end up playing last fall to go along with some very talented proven winners at the position?
WILL ARKANSAS STATE LINEUP MORE IN A SPREAD ATTACK OR PRO SETS
Every good head coach determines what the strengths of his team and personal and decides accordingly. This probably means that the answer to this question probably won't be answered instantly but will be something determined throughout spring practice.
Harsin has made it clear that fans and his players will see more of a power style offense, especially in the Red Zone, so it will be interesting to see this develop this spring.
BACK TO THE QB POSITION,YES IT"S THAT IMPORTANT
What are the most important traits that Harsin looks for in his signal callers? How important is accuracy at the position for the thrower in his offense and how important is it for the dual threat guy to be a throwing threat as well?
Oh well lets add six questions for this feature.
WHO WILL BE THE BIGGEST SURPRISE ON THE OFFENSIVE SIDE OF THE BALL THIS SPRING?
Who is the darkhorse? Who will be the most improved player? Will it be a red-shirt freshman, or will it be someone who contributed on special teams last fall.
