There's no word on whether head coach Mike Gundy and the Oklahoma State defensive staff will be looking for two junior college defensive ends. The Cowboys picked up a standout and potential junior college All-American in Sam Wren of Arizona Western College, who visited this weekend and said he committed before leaving on Sunday morning. Iowa Western's Devon Nash is set to visit next week.

"I committed, yes sir," said Wren when asked about his visit to OSU. "Trace Clark was my host. It was great and I like the way the whole town is involved in Oklahoma State and they all support OSU. It is definitely a college town and it is the best fit for me."

Wren, who was part of two straight seasons as Western State's football champs at Arizona Western, was also the defensive MVP in the recent win in the El Toro Bowl as Arizona Western handled previously unbeaten Nassau County College in New York 42-37.

The 6-3, 260-pound Wren, who has listed 4.6 speed and is originally out of Palestine, Texas, also corrected his sophomore stats for us. He finished with 51 tackles, 15 tackles for loss for 149 yards in losses. He also had 14.5 sacks with a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries, one for a touchdown and he also scored a safety on a sack.

His freshman season at Arizona Western, Wren had 21 total tackles with 8.5 tackles for loss and a sack along with a fumble caused.

As for his visit, Wren added that his dad, stepmother, and older brother all made the trip to Stillwater, and they also liked Oklahoma State a lot. He said he would be at Oklahoma State on Jan. 6 for the start of the spring semester.

"I'm looking forward to having a really good season in my first year at Oklahoma State," added Wren, who also visited Texas State and Washington State.

It really came down to the Cowboys and Washington State, but he had offers from Arkansas, Arkansas State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Houston, Memphis, Nevada, Oregon State, Utah State, and Western Kentucky.

Wren becomes the 21st known Oklahoma State commitment and the ninth on defense and the second defensive end along with high school defensive end commitment Ogbonnia Okoronkwo. As mentioned previously, Wren will be a mid-year transfer that will be enrolled for the spring semester.
