It's all about taking care of business when Arkansas State University visits Troy this afternoon in a 2:30 p.m. football game in a pivotal Sun Belt Conference match-up.

Both teams are playing some of its best football of the year, especially on the offensive side of the ball.

Troy comes into the match up with a 5-5 and 3-3 conference mark, the Trojans have put up some very impressive offensive numbers in their last two games, 596 yards against Navy last week in a win in Troy against the Midshipmen, and over 700 yards in offense against a not very good Tennessee team the week before.

Arkansas State, under first year head football coach Gus Malzahn, is playing some of its best football of the year.

The Red Wolves come into the contest with an impressive 5 game winning streak, with a 7-3 record and a 5-1 conference mark, leading the Sun Belt by a half of game going into Saturday's big game.

ASU's offense has also clicked in the last three weeks in impressive wins over Louisiana Lafayette on the road 50-27, beating North Texas on the road 37-19 and knocking off Louisiana Monroe in front of its biggest home crowd of the year last Thursday night 45-23.

In the words of Gus Malzahn, a lot of the young talent on this football team has began to grow up and mature as the season has progressed.

There is no better time to be hitting your peak than at the end of the of the season.

Arkansas State will attempt to win it's eighth consecutive road game today here in Troy, a win against the Trojans at Larry Blakeney Field will set up one of the biggest games in December in Jonesboro in recent Red Wolf History on December 1 when ASU plays host to Middle Tennessee.

No matter how the game turns out today at Troy, that game will be a significant role in deciding the conference on December 1 against Middle. A win today at Troy will give the Red Wolves a perfect opportunity and the front runner status of repeating as undisputed Sun Belt Conference Champions for the second consecutive season.

Arkansas State has already become bowl eligible two weeks ago, they are almost assured a bowl game at this point no matter how the final two games play out.

But it's the drive and desire of this football team not to settle for anything less than an undisputed championship, like last year.

"We don't want to share anything," senior quarterback Ryan Aplin said earlier this week. "It's like wanting to share the last piece of a pie that you love. You want it all for yourself. We tasted success last season and as seniors we want to experience that feeling again."

very talented group of seniors, including Aplin, Nathan Herrold, Don Jones, Tim Starson, Zach McKnight,Taylor Stockemer and several others are facing their final two regular season games as Red Wolves this week and in two weeks against Middle Tennessee.

"It's starting to hit us," Aplin said. "It's very important to us to finish strong, we are playing some of our best football right now, we just have to continue to do so these final two ballgames. Troy is a very good football team, it will be a big challenge for us on the road, but this group of guys are warriors, we relish the opportunity to do things that has never been done before."

A win today against Troy will give the Red Wolves nothing less than a share of the conference championship.

Middle Tennessee has two games left before playing ASU in the season finale, the Blue Raiders are currently 4-1 in league standings, a half game behind Arkansas State.

MTSU plays South Alabama today on the road before returning home next week to host this same Troy team that ASU faces today.

Troy needs to win one of their last two games to secure six wins and bowl eligibility, the Trojans would love nothing better than to knock off the Red Wolves at home to day to secure there status.

"It's going to be a dog fight," Gus Malzahn said earlier this week. "They have a very good offensive team. They can score a lot of points and put up a lot of points. We will have to play one of our better games today."

That is just what the Red Wolf faithful are hoping for.

After going undefeated in Sun Belt play last year under Hugh Freeze, Malzahn and his coaching staff and football team has one goal.

"We want another ring," Aplin said. "None of this Co-champ stuff. We won it all last year and that's the mindset that we are taking into today's game today against Troy.
