The 2012 UL Baseball Fall World Series began tonight with the Bayou Boys taking the opening game 6-0 at Tigue Moore Field.

The pitching combination of Nick Zaunbrecher, Kody Smith and Kendall Mayer limited the Swampers to just two hits- by LSU-E transfer Sam Carrier- over seven innings.

The Bayou Boys were led at the plate by the Conrad brothers- Brenn and Jace-hitting two extra-base hits in the two run third inning. Brenn Conrad tripled to right center with one down in the third-inning. Caleb Adams would drive Brenn in from third base with a single up the middle. Brother Jace Conrad would follow Adams with a double to left center; with Adams taking the extra base home scoring on Dex Kjerstad’s fielding error.

An RBI Double by third baseman Tyler Girouard, RBI ground out from Nick Thurman and a Logan Preston sacrifice fly would add three more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for the Bayou Boys.

The Conrad brothers and Tyler Girouard led the Bayou Boys at the plate, combing for 5-for-9 with two RBI and two runs scored.

Nick Zaunbrecher pitched four innings in earning the win for the Bayou Boys. Seth Harrison surrendered two runs on four hits over four innings and was charged with the loss.
