Arkansas State journey’s into Cajun Country here Tuesday night in a crucial Sun Belt Conference game for both ASU and ULL in league play.

With both teams having one loss already in league play, both schools need to win tonight’s game to keep pace with league leading Louisiana Monroe. Both teams have yet to play the War Hawks, so the winner of tonight’s game can control its own destiny.

AStateNation.com made the trip to Lafayette to bring our members the very best coverage of the Arkansas State Red Wolves. You can listen to tonight’s game live on the East Arkansas Broadcast Network and on 107.9 KFIN in Jonesboro, the Flagship network of Arkansas State Athletics.

Here are our five keys to the game for Arkansas State to come out victorious against a very solid Louisiana Lafayette team.

KEY 1: Must protect the football. You can’t give this ULL team any extra ammunition to use against you. The Cajuns are very good in creating turnovers and good at making those turnovers into points.

KEY 2: Need to punch ULL in the mouth early and often in the first part of the game. This will show the home team that ASU is ready to play in hostile territory. It will also take the rowdy crowd out of the game in the early going. It will also give this Red Wolf Football team early needed confidence to pull out a victory over a team that they have not beaten in Lafayette in over 20 years.

KEY 3: Arkansas State defense must bring a lot of pressure while keeping ULL’s Terrance Broadway in check and accounted for. You have to make him beat you throwing the football, you can’t allow him to run loose against the Red Wolves. He proved against North Texas he can be a dangerous runner.

KEY 4: Arkansas State defense can not afford to give up the big play. While the defense needs to make ULL throw the ball against them to win the game, they can’t afford to give up big pass plays either. The ASU secondary must bring their A game tonight.

Key 5: The Red Wolf offense needs to allow Ryan Aplin to be Ryan Aplin. Expect a more wide open approach offensively, with Gus Malzahn pulling out all stops and all weapons in the ASU offensive arsenal.

It’s key for Arkansas State to play well on the road tonight during the Nationally televised game on ESPN2. Recruits all over the country will be watching and this is a perfect opportunity for Malzahn and his coaching staff to showcase the ASU Football Program on a national level.
