Arkansas State's recruiting continues picking up stream as Gus Malzahn and his coaching staff picked up their 15th commitment of their 2013 recruiting class Wednesday afternoon.

Malzahn and his staff are using their Auburn connections, recruiting the state of Alabama like AState has never recruited it before.

Eufalla HS linebacker Xavier Woodson pulled the trigger for the Red Wolves today, mainly because of how this coaching staff has recruited him and made him feel while he was on their campus.

AStateNation.com caught up with Woodson to get his thoughts on Arkansas State University.

"I'm very excited about my commitment to Arkansas State," Woodson said. "They really made me feel at home when I went up there for a camp earlier this summer. They took me in as if I was part of their family already."

ASU Special teams coordinator and running backs coach Eliah Drinkwitz recruited Woodson for the Red Wolves.

"Coach Drinkwitz is a really nice guy, a man of character," Woodson said. "He is a funny guy, I like him a lot."

Woodson is also impressed with Coach Malzahn, who spent three years as the offensive coordinator at Auburn.

"That's the man right there," Woodson said. "He is another great man of character, they keep it real with you and they tell you up front what they are looking for, I like that a lot. Coach Malzahn is building a championship program at Arkansas State."

Woodson, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound athlete who runs the forty yard dash in 4.5 seconds, has offers from Arkansas State, Troy, and University of Alabama at Birmingham.
