Starkville tight end Stanley Higgins confirmed with AStateNation.com Sunday evening that he has plans on taking an unofficial visit to Arkansas State sometime in the month of July.

Higgins, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound tight end currently has an offer from Louisiana Lafayette and appears to be close to an offer from current reigning Sun Belt Champion Arkansas State.

"I think Arkansas State is very close to offering me," Higgins said. "It's impressive what they did last fall and should even do better with Coach Gus Malzahn this year."

Arkansas State's Recruiting Coordinator Casey Woods is Higgins recruiting coach.

"I like Coach Woods a lot," Higgins said. "He is a cool coach, he is easy to talk to."

According to Higgins, the ASU coaching staff is wanting him to attend an ASU camp later this month, after that they may extend an offer.

"They are telling me to come to camp," Higgins said. "If everything goes well, they will offer."
