Arkansas State and Gus Malzahn made a big impression on one Kentucky athlete today.
Owenboro defensive tackle Logan Cart took an unofficial visit to Jonesboro Monday and walked away very impressed with Arkansas State and the Red Wolves coaching staff.
Cart, a 6-foot-4, 300-pound defensive tackler from Kentucky, made the trip to Jonesboro and was surprised on what he found.
"It was amazing," Cart told AStateNation.com Monday night. "I really liked the campus a lot. When driving up to the stadium, it looked small, but once you go inside of it, it's a lot bigger than it looks."
Cart had heard of Gus Malzahn and his accomplishments at Auburn, was very impressed with the Red Wolves new Head Football Coach.
"He is a really special guy," Cart said. "You can tell by his presence that he is an important person, the way he carries himself. He also relates very well to his players and is very down to earth."
It appears that Cart received more from Malzahn than just a sales pitch for Arkansas State.
"He gave me some really good advice on the recruiting process," Cart said. "It wasn't just about him and his school."
Cart currently doesn't have an official offer, but is in hopes one will come in the next few days.
"They told me that they wanted to see what my interest was in them," Cart said. "They seem very interested in me, I hope I get an offer from them very soon."
