Arkansas State’s recruiting class just keeps getting better.
One of the more under rated defensive backs in the state of Alabama Rocky Hayes gave the Red Wolves his pledge Monday afternoon.
Hayes, a 6-foot-0, 175-pound athlete from Cleburne County HS in Heflin, Alabama took an official visit to Jonesboro this weekend and waited until Monday to make a final decision.
“I promised my dad that I wouldn’t make a rush decision while I was there,” Hayes told AStateNation.com. “I promised I would come home and sit down and think about it before pulling the trigger.”
According to Hayes, he fell in love with Arkansas State over the weekend and is very impressed with what Gus Malzahn plans on doing with the Red Wolf Football program.
“Coach Malzahn has a great vision for the program,” Hayes said. “He wants to make it into the mid-major powerhouse team in the South. He is building something special there, I want to be a part of it.”
According to Hayes high school coach Michael Shortt, Arkansas State is getting a steal in Hayes.
“He is No. 4 on Auburn’s board at defensive backs and they took three in this class,” Shortt told AStateNation. “Rocky is going to be a good one for ASU. He is very athletic and several SEC schools had him on their boards. Coach Malzahn has recruited our school when he was at Auburn. He is a great coach and is going to do great things at Arkansas State.”
Hayes makes commitment No. 26 for the Red Wolves.
