Olive Branch big offensive lineman Devin Mondie took an unofficial visit to Jonesboro on Saturday. On Sunday afternoon he called the Red Wolf Coaching Staff to give them some good news.
“I called Coach Hugh Freeze and told him I was going to be a Red Wolf,” Mondie told AStateNation.com Sunday afternoon. “It sounded like every coach was screaming and yelling over the phone welcoming me to their family.”
Mondie, a recent transfer from Memphis Melrose to Olive Branch, becomes commitment No. 10 for Freeze and his coaching staff.
“It’s a really good fit for me,” Mondie said. “I have a really good chance of being great there.”
Mondie, a 6-foot-6, 300-pound tackle, likes the fact that Arkansas State is close to home and he loved the family feel he got there.
“I talked to the players and got to know some of them,” Mondie said. “They all told me how close this team was, how much they cared and loved the coaching staff. How they were a big family.”
Mondie got a chance to watch the Red Wolf coaching staff in action on Saturday.
“I loved the up tempo of everything,” Mondie said. “It’s a great environment for me.”
Mondie also got a chance to check out the campus.
“I like everything about Arkansas State,” Mondie said. “It’s not too big, but it’s not too small either.”
Red Wolf Recruiting Coordinator Maurice Harris is in charge of Mondie’s recruitment for Arkansas State.
