Hugh Freeze picked up his No. 7th commitment here Sunday afternoon when Memphis Mitchell defensive tackle Greg Buckhanon committed to the Red Wolves.

AStateNation.com broke the commitment, and according to Buckhanon it was his relationship with the Arkansas State coaching staff that made the difference in his decision.

"My defensive line coach Chris Kiffin has a great background," Buckhanon said. "His dad is one of the best defensive minds in the country, my coach is a great D-line coach."

Buckhanon, a 6-foot-0, 265-pound athlete, camped in Jonesboro this summer.

"I love their campus," Buckhanon said. "The stadium isn't too big but it isn't too small either."

Buckhanon also loves that Freeze has a Memphis background.

"He coached in Memphis," Buckhanon said. "He knows what type of athletes are here. Recruiting Memphis hard is very important to him."
