To get an opportunity to play on this Arkansas State Football team is something that sixth year senior Tom Castilaw truly cherishes.

The starting center for the Red Wolves is approaching his last season in Jonesboro a little differently than ever before.

"I'm going into this season as all of our guys are to compete to the best of my ability and to earn a position on this offensive line," Castilaw said. "Even though I have started in the past, I'm going into fall camp with the attitude I have to work my butt off to start this season."

Castilaw hopes this approach will show the younger and inexperienced group that he is willing to walk the walk instead of just talking a good game.

"It's all about contributing to this team's success," Castilaw said. "We are all working extremely hard preparing for this fall season."

Castilaw will be the first to admit he and his teammates are ready to get things going.

"We are all very excited about this season," Castilaw said. "We have been preparing all summer and spring to do everything we can do to be ready."

While everyone is targeting the Red Wolves offensive line as the team's weakest link, the senior leader feels a little differently about the situation.

"Anytime you graduate as many as we did, it will be a concern," Castilaw said. "It's very similar to how we were a couple of years ago. With the starters being gone it made us work harder and become closer together as a group."

Castilaw is willing to take responsibility as the senior of the group to take his upon himself to help lead this group to greatness.

"It's definitely our job as older guys to help the younger guys out," Castilaw said. "It's a blessing for me to be here for a sixth year, I want to give all of myself to my team, to my community and to my University."

Humility is an obvious trait of the starting center.

"I don't want to talk about something without doing it first on the field," Castilaw said. "I'm very excited about my senior season and I feel that this group of linemen is going to be better than everyone expects us to be."

Castilaw participated with his Head Coach Hugh Freeze in today's Sun Belt Media Days.
