Castilaw expects big things for ASU

There will be a lot of new faces on this Arkansas State offensive line this fall. The one returning starter for the RedWolves is veteran center Tom Castilaw. Go "Inside" to find out why Castilaw feels that this year can be a special one for ASU.

One Arkansas State red-shirt senior has seen a lot during his tenure in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Texas native Tom Castilaw has developed into a steady performer and is the lone returning starter and veteran on the Red Wolves offensive line.

Castilaw started his career at offensive tackle, the veteran lineman feels that the move to center was the turning point for his career.

"Playing center has definitely been more of a natural fit for me," Castilaw told AStateNation.com. "This will be my third year to start at center, I came in 2006 and I'm one of the few guys left from that year."

During his time at ASU, Castilaw admits that expectations and excitement is higher this season than he have ever seen before.

"I have never seen the team more excited than they are right now," Castilaw said. "This team is more committed to working hard, we are pushing ourselves as hard as we ever have."

Castilaw is the lone returning starter on the offensive line and he realizes that the offensive line has to perform at a high level this fall.

"I can promise you that every guy on the offensive line is working extremely hard," Castilaw said. "There are a lot of unknowns with this group, we will definitely be unproven. We are pushing each other to a higher level."

Despite the inexperience on the offensive line, Castilaw feels the group he leads will be ready for the season opener.

"There may be a lot of new faces, but everyone of us realizes we have to step up our play," Castilaw said. "I think this group will be talented and I think we will surprise some people."

Castilaw also sees a new energy and excitement surrounding the program this summer. He feels that new Head Coach Hugh Freeze has definitely led the charge to improve the team's chemistry and the team's energy.

"It's definitely been a collective effort from everyone," Castilaw said. "Coach Freeze is definitely leading the charge. He is so passionate and full of energy."

Castilaw and his teammates are expecting big things for his last season in Jonesboro.

"I expect Jonesboro and Arkansas State is going to see a team that they haven't never seen before here," Castilaw said. "Expectations are very high. We aren't going to allow the bar to be lowered for any reason."

The senior leader of the offensive line feels good about how the entire team is working this summer.

"We are working extremely hard," Castilaw said. "I'm impressed with the team's work ethic. We are all doing everything at the best of our abilities. Exciting times are ahead for this football team."
