Freeze putting emphasis on recruiting Memphis

Hugh Freeze is returning to a city he is familiar with as a Football Recruiter. He coached HS Football in Memphis for over 14 years, now he is focusing on recruiting the Bluff City. Go "Inside" to see what Memphis East lineman Latarius Brady had to say about his recent visit to Jonesboro. Could Brady be close to pulling the trigger?

Hugh Freeze made his mark in recruiting Memphis when he was an Ole Miss assistant coach, it appears he is going to continue utilizing those relationships he built while coaching high school football in the Bluff City.

Memphis is expected to be a key recruiting area for Freeze and his staff and apparently it's paying off.

Memphis East standout lineman Latarius Brady attended camp at Arkansas State last month and came away very impressed with the Red Wolf Coaching staff.

"I liked it a lot," Brady told AStateNation.com. "It was a lot better than I expected it to be. I loved the environment, I really liked the coaching staff."

It also appears that Brady is someone several RedWolves coaches want.

"They offered me on both sides of the ball, either to be an offensive lineman or a defensive lineman," Brady said. "The O-line coach and the D-line coach both spoke to me and told me that they wanted me to be a part of their group. They let me decide what position to play, given the choice, the defensive side of the ball is where I'm the most comfortable with."

Brady also got a chance to chat with a couple of current Arkansas State players to get their take on the new coaching staff.

"Everybody loves Coach (Hugh) Freeze," Brady said. "They told me he is a great motivator and someone you will love to play for."

Brady got a chance to visit with Coach Freeze during the camp.

"He told me that he would love to have me on his team," Brady said. "He told me I could be a big part of helping him turn this program around. I liked that a lot."

Brady, a 6-foot-3, 250-pound athlete, currently just has the Arkansas State offer, but other schools are showing interest. He is getting attention from Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Memphis and Mississippi State.

When will Brady make a decision?

"Probably at the end of July or definitely before my senior season begins," Brady said. "I want to get the decision out of the way before the season starts."

Could Brady see himself being a Red Wolf?

"Most definitely I could," Brady said. "They made me feel special, that they truly need me on their team, that I could make a big difference."
